Week 3: Learning Log (On June 18 th,
2013)
Teaching
is developed all the time since in the previous to at the present. This is the 21
st century that focused on learning on web-based learning available with
teaching English using ICT. A teacher should select and apply teaching method appropriated with various needs of students. For instance, the teacher apply cooperative learning with students in the large group most effectively. In addition, there are variety of teaching approach
such as teaching pronunciation, teaching English using ICT, Culture teaching
and communicative language learning.
Teaching
pronunciation is the factor affects the learning of pronunciation. A teacher
should teach the students to understand and use pronunciation in real life
situation effectively. Moreover, students can speak English with foreigners so
clearly and easy to follow with each other. The teacher usually teaches the
students about phonetics, intonation, stressed syllables, linking sound, focus
words, etc. After students have learned about pronunciation, they may use what
the teacher teaches being accuracy and fluency to apply in real life
situations.
Culture
teaching is not same with teaching culture. When the teacher teaches English,
the students should be taught about several cultures in the same way. For
example, some foreigners don’t like when Thai people call them that “Farang
Farang” They also think “Farang” is rude for them. At the present, culture
teaching is important for Thai people because of opening Asean community.
Moreover, Thailand are preparing to be the unity with nine countries (Vietnam,
Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, Myanmar),
so students should have known how different about several culture in each
countries.
Communicative
language teaching is approach that guide students to solve problems about
speaking and listening. Small activities are prepared appropriately with this
teaching method. It is rather focused on co-operative learning and
communicative learning than competition. The teacher should allow the students
to pay attention in activities connected with real life situations mostly and
using authentic materials. There are four factors in CLT, including grammatical
ability, sociolinguistic ability, discourse ability and strategies ability.
Teaching
English Language Using ICT or Web-based learning (E-learning) is teaching
method that allows students to learn new lesson by themselves with ICT. Before
beginning lesson, the teacher and the students should write learning contract
together as “Don’t use social networks (Facebook) while learning lesson.”
Furthermore, there are both advantages and disadvantages in using ICT. There
are lots of advantages including motivation students’ interest in learning,
being student-centred and promoting students’ communication ability. However,
there are disadvantages. The students don’t interest in learning when they
connect with playing game online, chatting on “Facebook.”
Above
all, teaching approach is important factor in arrangement lesson for students.
The teacher should have experiences to apply several teaching strategies for
teaching students both inside and outside the classroom effectively. Effects of
teaching come from a teacher with students who work together. The teacher
should select and apply teaching method available on individual students,
students’ ability level, environment of the classroom, etc. In my opinion, I
think each teaching method there are both advantages and disadvantages. The
teacher has to apply which teaching method appropriated with students and
lesson mostly. In addition, the teacher should think of input, process and
output. Outcome is most important thing that the teacher should focus on it. It
literally indicates that learning progress of the students. Do you agree from
