Reflection what I have learned in class-20/10/2013

Reflection what I have learned from the ASEAN community

Listening is the first skill in which people have learned since they were born. In fact, they have learned only the mother-tongue as well. However, they were not good at learning the native languages, especially English. Besides listening skill, how to speak English also was problematic. Educational System Development in 21 st Century was very important way to increase effectiveness of learning. Teachers should change the role from teachers to advisers (teach less) and students have got the opportunity to learn more. In addition, students should be taught by communicative language teaching (CLT), it was focused on using English as much as possible. In this section, I would like to tell what self-direct learning in class. There was teaching on the regional lesson plan divided into several topics, including tourist attractions of Brunei Darussalam, Singapore, Malaysia and other topics.

Tourist Attractions of Brunei Darussalam was interesting topic. A teacher should teach students to read difficult words lead to read easily short sentences. She usually used language as fluency, but she can communicate directing to others. When she offered students to do this activity named “Whisper game” by two teams (five persons a team). Four students stood in line and the fifth person sat on the chair for writing what members of team had heard. This game was good in pronunciation, but the teacher could not control class easily because of noisy. In my opinion, she should prepare self both pronunciation and how to solve face problem happened during doing activities without butterflies. After travelling to Brunei, we would go to Singapore.

Many places in Singapore were attractive for several generations. A teacher showed video presenting tourist attractions. Students matched picture cards appropriated with places of Singapore. For good point, the teacher chose the interesting topic about how to write a postcard about tourist attractions of Singapore. She showed authentic postcards. She taught students to know how to write a postcard and gave examples of them, including greeting, details, ending of postcard and receiver’s address. However, she showed unclear examples for writing address. She could speak English very fluency and control class as very good. A postcard was written shorter than writing the letter, used to perform about interesting places or countries. After having fun in Singapore, we will return Malaysia again.

Ten places in Malaysia were interesting. A teacher showed video presenting places of Malaysia. For good point, she presented big picture cards there were 3D, but they were included vocabularies. However, she did not tell or how to say the meaning of some words such as hotspots, and venues. The conversation was good, concise and clear, so students could use it for recommending a place.  She could pretend teaching as good. If you would like to live in Malaysia happily, we should know the rule of there.

“Do” and “Don’t” were supports for the rule used in Malaysia. This topic was very interesting and important for tourist attractions and Malaysians. First of all, she offered video introducing about Malaysia. For good point, she allowed students to compare what different between Malaysia culture and Thai culture by using structures “do” and “don’t.” Secondly, students match the rule of Malaysia with “do” and “don’t” correctly. However, she should be high-self conscious and practice speaking. She should focus on student-centred very much. We would go travelling around Brunei for gaining knowledge about the events and festivals.

The events and festivals of Brunei were special things at there. A teacher offered a game matching 10 flags in the ASEAN community appropriate with name of countries. The word “lao” should be changed to “Laos.” She should focus on the special events or festivals of Brunei and divided students into groups. Each group would get different content of events or festivals and answered questions to be sentences. After that, students should specific and choose content interested in nowadays. We will go to Vietnam together, after enjoyed travelling Brunei.

Travelling around Vietnam was helpful to get experience about many tourist attractions. A teacher showed video presenting about Vietnamese Tourist Attractions. She taught about the descriptive adjectives. She offered crossword activity, so students were interested on it very much. This activity was focused on working in group and had interaction together. She should enhance students to have participation in several types of activity such as individual work, and pair work. She should practice how to speak English as well as own language. Next program, we would like to go to Myanmar.

Myanmar was a country that was beautiful place. A teacher showed pictures about ten currencies of the ASEAN community. For good point, she offered the authentic Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos’s bill. She showed video in exchange rate situation. She taught students to exchange money at bank when they would like to go aboard. She could use language as very fluency. Students should have listened to conversation more and more, because the teacher should focus on student-centred.

In conclusion, there are three factors affected for good learning outcome such as performance, evaluation and condition. Thailand will walk into the ASEAN community and be the best unity together with other countries in 2015. First of all, we have to understand what peace, prosperity and people mean, because there are three poles of the ASEAN community. According to this essay, teachers realize to apply content about it to another function such as teaching students to ask and bargain prices using Singapore currency. Teachers can enhance students to use English in several real life situations taught by communicative language teaching and other teaching strategies; task-based learning, problem-based learning, project-based learning, and the others. However, English is not more difficult than your thought, whenever you try to use it as if it is your mother-tongue.
